One of my favorite dishes as a kid. And yes, I know that the “combination” meat-potato is not that healthy. But I like it, probably more because it brings back memories.

Homemade elder-flowers syrup
Who was lucky to enjoy some homemade elder-flowers syrup in his/her childhood?
I did, and even today I still remember the taste. Delicious! My parents always replaced the sugar with honey, and I think they add some yeast to make it carbonated (soft drink). Or something like that, I just can’t remember exactly. All I know is that it was produced by the natural fermentation of elder flowers (Sambucus nigra) in a lemon and honey. Adding some ice cubes, and just like that – summer was there.
The elder-flower syrup was one of my favorite drinks when I was a kid.
Acacia flower
Today I remembered one of my mother sweets, from my childhood.
I love acacia flowers, and I usually eat them just like that – raw. But my mother used to make some pancakes using those flowers. Delicious delicate sweets! I don’t know her recipe, but I did a quick search and I found this recipe. Maybe one day my mother will cook them again for me, as long as I’m at her house when acacia trees bloom.
Do you like acacia flowers? Did you eat those pancakes with acacia flowers?
What a house
Oh, how I wish I had this house when I was a kid. This is such a masterpiece. Do you like it?
When it’s getting cold
It’s starting to get cold in my town, so we needed something to keep us warm. And the best way to feel good is to eat something good. What an excellent opportunity for me to prepare one of my childhood best treats – fruits compote. And since I didn’t have a lot of fruits, I only used apples and my absolute favorite fruits – quinces.
Just boil water and add the chopped fruits. Add as much sugar as you wish and boil them together for 10 minutes or so (until the fruits are soft). The compote is really to be served in a few minutes.
This is the final result – the cinnamon is optional. My mom did not use it when I was a kid.
Hope you like it – Enjoy!
Are you agreeing with this?
I do. 🙂
Dolls
Do you still have your childhood doll/s?
My mother still has the doll I received as a gift when I was 7. She is a beautiful doll with golden hair and the most amazing blue eyes. Her name is Lily and it’s my favorite doll ever.
International Children’s Day
International Children’s Day is a public holiday observed in some countries on June 1st.
Have a happy and blessed day, children!
You are the most precious things for your families – Enjoy your day and your childhood!

Do you have a flower that reminds you of something?
Just some flowers that remind me at my hometown. We have a tulip festival and the main flower of the town is tulip. The flower arrangements in the downtown are also in the tulip form, and in the middle of the city is a big tulip artesian fountain.
And you know, if you have too much of a specific thing, you start loosing interest. Maybe because I’ve seen tulips in almost every corner of the city and because they were the main flowers you get and offer with some special occasion, I started not to like them that much. I started craving for something different, for a different flower.
But from time to time, there are some exceptional tulips that capture my attention again. And just like that, I like tulips again.
